BLAZE AT 2023 AUS CAMP

BLAZE AT 2023 AUS CAMP

Article by Maddie Arnold

U23’s Blaze member Ellie Hart represented her state at her very first nationals for the NSW
17/U team this year at the National Championships in Darwin. The competition took place in
April and her performance over the competition spoke for itself as she was selected as part
of the 17/U National Pathway Squad, leading her to participate in the Aus camp at the
beginning of July, which took place at the AIS in Canberra.

Ellie made her Blaze family proud at both Nationals and the Aus camp with her relentless
efforts on the court and her ability to keep showing up, evidently resulting in her being just
one of seven NSW girls being selected for this camp out of both the 17/U and 19/U teams.
Ellie said her experience at the camp was everything she hoped it would be and her
development from the camp showed on her return to the court for Blaze.

“I was expecting hard training, but I was ready to learn and mix with some great players from
the other states,” Ellie said on returning from the camp.

“We did a lot of training and lots of education sessions about how to be an athlete and what
makes us better athletes, so overall I think I learned a lot from the experience.”

Whilst Ellie had a great experience away at this camp, she said she couldn’t have done it
without the support and encouragement of her Blaze family.

“Blaze has been unreal. They’ve supported me so much and I couldn’t have asked for a
better club to support me. Everything I do, they just say go for it and I’m very grateful.”

Overall, Blaze is extremely proud of Ellie and how she represents the club and they
can’t wait to see where her future takes her!
