Exhibition Game Match Report – South Coast Blaze Opens vs The Capital Spirit

South Coast Blaze had a good start to the match after a positive training session in the morning.

The first quarter showed a great build on existing combinations with the starting line up of Kristina Brice in GS, Abbey McFadden in GA, Chaise Vassallo in WA, Katelyn Begley in C, Elecia Parrott in WD, Tegan Holland in GD and Te-Arn Bradley in GK. We went to the bench at the end of the first quarter down 13-15 with a few missed opportunities.

Second quarter saw a shift in gear from Blaze with the introduction of Shelby Mallon in GA, Lauren Russell in WD and Thalia Uilelea in GD. Consistent shooting, great ball placement throughout the court and strong defensive turnovers resulted in Blaze going to the bench ahead 35-27.

The third quarter saw a strong response from Capital Spirit as they capitalised on every loose ball opportunity, pushing Blaze all the way to the end of the quarter whistle with Blaze still leading 46-45.

Blaze took to the boards in the final quarter with determination and intensity to close out the match. Blaze’s full court defence and ability to increase pressure saw the lead extend out to the final whistle taking the win 60-54.

It was a successful day for South Coast Blaze and a great foundation in preparation for the upcoming season.
