2022 South Coast Blaze Club Awards

On Sunday 14 August 2022, IMB South Coast Blaze finished our netball season on a high with our 2022 end-of-year awards and presentation night.

Awards were presented to players in the U23s and Opens teams, as well as club awards, including Rookie of the Year, the Michele Harvey Club Person of the Year Award and the Francine J Dessaix Blaze Spirit Award.

The awards recognise South Coast Blaze players and members for their dedication, effort, performance and overall contribution to the team over the past season.

This award recognises an U23s player that has demonstrated a high level of commitment, leadership, growth, bravery or overcome adversity and contributed to the team and Blaze throughout the season.

South Coast Blaze Club Awards 2022 U23s Sharnee

Players’ Player Award

Sharnee Behr

This award is given to an U23s player chosen by their team members as contributing the most to the IMB South Coast Blaze U23s throughout the season both on and off the court.

South Coast Blaze Club Awards 2022 U23s Emma

Rookie of the Year

Emma Mateo

This award is presented to a Blaze athlete judged to be the most accomplished in their first season in Premier League.

Mallon Medal (Coaches Award)

Katelyn Anderson

This award recognises an Opens player that has demonstrated a high level of commitment, leadership, growth, bravery or overcome adversity and contributed to the team and Blaze throughout the season.

In 2022 this award is named in honour of #OurBlaze player, Shelby Mallon’s mum Cathryn, who tragically passed away earlier this year.

McFadden Medal (Players’ Player Award)

Aisha Bower

This award is given to an Opens player chosen by their team members as contributing the most to the IMB South Coast Blaze Opens team throughout the season both on and off the court.

The award is in honour of #OurBlaze player Abbey McFadden’s mother, Maleea, who sadly passed away in 2021.

Francine J Dessaix Blaze Spirit Award

Lisa McCrohon

This award is presented to a Blaze member who has been deemed above all others to embody the zeal, passion and spirit synonymous with the Blaze family throughout the season.

Lisa McCrohon is incredibly dedicated to the success of #OurBlaze and wears many hats, including the Manager of the U23s team, Uniforms and Merchandise, Association and Netball NSW Liaison. Lisa is a very deserving recipient of this award.

The award is named in honour of #OurBlaze Administration Manager, Nerida Sutton’s mum Francine, who passed away from cancer in 2021.

This award is presented to a Blaze member who has been deemed above all others to have had the most impact in contributing to the excellence of the IMB South Coast Blaze franchise.

Emma is the Digital Marketing Manager for #OurBlaze.
